When his vehicle is stopped for a routine police check, they instruct Erwin to properly shut the half-open tank lid - the refugees access to air. Erwin drives away from the police checkpoint, meaning to stop and re-open the lid. However, an upsetting phone call from his soon to be ex-wife makes him forget everything else.
