Kärt barn har många namn. Jag kommer för enkelhetens skull kalla det pekplatta i den här artikeln då det råder delade meningar om vad det faktiskt kallas.

Dom flesta som har använt bärbara datorer har stött på fenomenet när pekplattan slutar fungera. Det kommer förstås alltid olämpligt, och beroende på datormodell finns det olika lösningar på det här. Det är sällan pekplattan faktiskt är trasig tack & lov. Ofta är problemet väldigt enkelt åtgärdat.
Lösning 1: FN-Tangenten + F9
Den första lösningen är också den enklaste, samt den vanligaste lösningen på problemet. Det gäller förstås FN-tangenten tillsammans med en F-tangent.
Nästan alla företag som tillverkar bärbara datorer idag har ett förinstallerat sätt för dig att inaktivera pekplattan. Vanligtvis gör man detta genom att trycka ner FN-tangenten + F9, och vips så fungerar inte pekplattan längre tills man aktiverar den igen. Det kan dock vara en annan kombination beroende på vilken tillverkare man har. Här måste du testa dig fram med FN-tangenten tillsammans med alla F-tangenter.

Fixing Your Laptop Touchpad not Working in Windows
Ensure the touchpad and your finger do not have any dirt, grease, liquids, or food on them (the touchpad has to make good contact with your finger to work correctly).

Save any data, close any open programs, and restart the computer by using a wired USB mouse (if available) or Bluetooth mouse if it is already installed. If not, press and hold the power button down for at least 15 seconds to turn the computer off (you lose any data that is not saved).
Unplug everything except the power cable, including the following:
- Speakers
- Printers
- Scanners
- USB devices
- USB flash drive or other external storage devices
- External monitor
- External keyboard
- External mouse
When your computer is attached to a docking station, undock it.
Turn the computer back on and retest the touchpad.

Fix 1: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter
Windows offers several troubleshooters for diagnosing and fixing common issues with your system. In this case, you can try running the hardware and devices troubleshooter to get the touchpad to work on Windows
Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type -id DeviceDiagnostic in the box and hit Enter.
Step 2: In the Hardware and Devices window that appears, hit Next to allow it to scan for any issues and fix them.
Fix 2: Repair Touchpad Driver
If the troubleshooter fails to identify any issues with the touchpad, you can try repairing the OEMs touchpad app on your PC. Heres how:
Step 1: Press the Windows key + I to launch the Settings app and head to Apps > Installed apps.
Step 2: Look for your touchpad app, click the three-dot menu next to it, and select Modify.
Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restoration process.
